Space Harvest Ideathon

Space Harvest Ideathon

Space Harvest is an exciting new opportunity for primary, secondary, and undergraduate university students to partake in hands-on botanical experimentation aimed at investigating human sustainability on the Moon or even Mars!

As the next iteration of Asian Herbs in Space (AHiS), a Space Seeds for Asian Future (SSAF) programme, Space Harvest is a free programme that aims to engage and empower teams of students to learn about and develop their own experiments to test, observe, and report the effects of lunar and Martian regolith simulants and analogues on plant growth and yield for long term space missions.

Participants in the program will gain access to supplementary materials, online resources, and exclusive webinars from leading Australian researchers and industry professionals, to hear and learn about Australia’s place in the future of space and sustainable habitability.

The Value for Your Students
The recent successful launch of the crewed Artemis mission to flyby the Moon, and the planned subsequent landings, highlights the hurdles faced by humanity in living sustainably in space and on other worlds. Space Harvest is the latest in a series of free SSAF programmes that invites students to partake in unique experimentation whilst developing and honing their scientific literacy, skills, and education.

One Giant Leap Australia is proud to work on behalf of the Australian Space Agency, in partnership with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, to offer this rare scientific experience to student scientists.
